U. S. Steel Košice is the largest integrated steel producer in Central Europe delivering steel to customers in industries such as automotive, home appliance manufacturing, construction.

U. S. Steel Košice is looking for a Senior Python Developer to join our team. The role involves developing complex, scalable Python-based ML and WEB applications to improve process efficiencies and plant operations. You will collaborate with data scientists, software developers, project managers, and other internal business partners on multiple projects to implement software solutions with measurable business value.

Responsibilities:

Build new features and design new CLI and interactive WEB applications, build proof of concept, prototypes, and production-grade software, by writing quality, clean, and maintainable Python code using programming best practices.
Maintain, and support our product portfolio.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and business processes, converting them into solutions.
Troubleshoot software issues and implement bug and vulnerability fixes.
Develop automated tests and perform code reviews.
Data visualization and related frontend design.

Qualifications

University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline (including Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering) with 2-3 years of prior equivalent work experience in data analysis instead of an advanced degree.
Proficiency in designing, conducting, and interpreting statistical analyses using common statistical software tools (e.g., R, Python, etc.) and techniques (e.g., regression modeling, survival analysis, machine learning, etc.) with proven / demonstrable experience.
Expertise in leveraging statistics, machine learning algorithms, and advanced mathematics to solve engineering problems.
Demonstrated skill in the use of one or more analytic, visualization, and data querying software tools or languages.
Demonstrated skill in data cleansing, data quality assessment, data visualization and storytelling for stakeholders.
Understanding relevant statistical measures such as confidence intervals, significance of error measurements, development and evaluation data sets, etc.

Nice to-have

DevOps experience with containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, and CD/CI pipelines.
Strong database design skills and fluency in SQL statements.
Expert knowledgebase of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.
Expertise in machine learning, data analysis, and preprocessing.

Other requirements

Ability to lead team of developers.
Ability to understand business processes.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
Upper intermediate (B2) English proficiency.
Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in the field.
